Ingredients of French Fried Onions:

  • 1 thinly sliced onion, I used a Mandolin set on 1/16th"
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk, mix with the egg
  • Flour for coating
  • Salt to taste, mix with the flour
  • Oil for frying

Method for "French Fried Onions":

  1. Slice the onion as best you can.
  2. Stir around in the buttermilk and egg until well covered.
  3. Drain for 5 minutes in a colander.
  4. Coat with the flour. I shake around in a bag.
  5. Fry until golden. I use coconut oil, it has excellent frying properties.
